Is it actually waterproof - or just water resistant?

Actually waterproof. Two layered construction means nothing gets through to your mattress. Holds up to 2 litres of liquid.

How do I wash it?

Machine wash on a standard cycle with regular detergent. No fabric softener, no bleach. Tumble dry on low for 30 minutes max, or line dry in the shade.

What's the difference between the Minky Sherpa and the Luxury Plush Fleece?

Both are 100% waterproof and machine washable. The Minky Sherpa ($139) has a fluffy, cloud-like sherpa texture - cosy and warm. The Luxury Plush Fleece ($229) has a buttery-smooth EXTRA fluffy premium fabric on both sides.

Will my kids know what it is?

It looks & feels EXACTLY like a regular blanket & doesn't sound 'like a plastic bag' when moved like many other cheap knock-offs. Ships discreetly.

So I was skeptical that I could have a use for this. But gave it a try and let me tell you it is definitely waterproof. I spilt around 2 cups of water on it accidentally. The underside was bone dry. I actually think I'll be using this instead of towels. J got the small. It will be easy enough to throw in a bag for a night away too 😜
